I recently purchased the Osprey Talon 44 backpack to use for traveling - and after a few month of use, I can say that's it's probably the best travel backpack I've ever owned.
As a continuous world travler, having a pack is probably one of the most important items I own. It's like a home away from home, a storage for all my possessions and something that is extremely comfortable.
In this video review of the Osprey Talon 44 I'll go over the top 9 reasons just why I think this is a perfect travel companion.
One of the highlights of the bag is that it's extremely lightweight - seriously, when I first picked it up, I could barely even feel anything! This is a huge bonus for travelers because when the backpack itself already weighs a lot, adding just a few items can make it reach the maximum for a hand carry. The Osprey Talon 44 on the other hand give you space and weight to carry what you need.
Here's my philosophy:
If your bag burdens or hinders you from doing what you want or being flexible, your bag is too big or heavy.
I love the size of this backpack - at 44 liters it's not too big, yet it's big enough to carry everything I need when I travel.
The size, the lightweight, the simple features, and the serious comfort of the pack when loaded are all reasons why I think it's the best travel backpack out there.
There are two drawback to the pack - one is that there's not that much padding on the bag itself (for your things). If you carry a computer like I do, you'll have to add a t-shirt or something at the bottom to give the bag a little extra padding. The next drawback is that it would have been nice it it included a rain cover - although that would have made the pack a bit heavier. That's solved by a plastic bag or an external rain fly.
Overall, it's an awesome, extremely well made backpack that I'd highly recommend for hiking backpackers or lightweight travelers.
