The-Hillside Turns Edible Clothing Dyes into Colorful Beers

In episode 6 of "That's Odd, Let's Drink It," Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione joins forces with GQ's Best New Menswear Designers in America, Emil and Sandy Corsillo of the Hill-Side, to brew something extra special for the grand opening of their new flagship store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The goal? To merge the process of making clothes and making beer by utilizing edible, all-natural dyes that can be deployed in both fabric and liquid. To bring their experiment to life, they team up with beloved local brewers Other Half to create a saison that's a blank canvas for two colorful additions: carrot and blueberry. Which hue reigns supreme is ultimately decided by the guests at the Hill-side launch party. Brought to you by First We Feast, "That's Odd, Let's Drink It" is a six-part series that explores that outer boundaries of experimental brewing. In each episode, Sam Calagione will create a never-before-seen beer inspired by an icon in another field—from culinary giant Mario Batali, to NBA superstar Chris Bosh.
