Nixon aide Alexander Butterfield, who testified against the president during the Watergate scandal, died Monday, March 9, 2026 at age 99. In 2015 David Martin talked with Butterfield, who'd revealed the White House taping system to Congressional investigators, and with Bob Woodward about his book, "The Last of the President's Men." Then, in 2023, Tracy Smith talked with Butterfield and former Trump aide Cassidy Hutchinson, who said Butterfield had been a source of strength for her as she testified to Congress about the January 6 Insurrection.
