War in Africa and the Middle East (1945 - 2000s) - A Complete History Overview

War in Africa and the Middle East takes a journey around Africa and the Middle East during the decolonization period after World War 2 and the Cold War related conflicts throughout the decades! Hey everyone! We take great pride in having no contact with advertisers or sponserships, so please consider becoming a member for early access and to keep the project going: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFn4wt14ytUbngBJp8SsWKQ/join The video picks up with the emergence of nationalist movements in Africa against colonial rule, and revolts like the Mau Mau Rebellion. After WW2, many of these colonies gained independence, with an especially brutal struggle in Algeria. We then check out each region of Africa post-independence, starting with Libya and the rise of Muammar Gaddafi, before heading to Western Africa and the Biafran War in Nigeria, before heading around to Central Africa with the rise of Mobutu Sese Seko, to South Africa with the ANC, apartheid, and Nelson Mandela, to Eastern Africa and the differing economies of Tanzania and Kenya, the destructive Ogaden War between Ethiopia and Somalia, and Africa's World War focused on the Congo! From here, we turn to the Middle East, and the making of the state of Israel. This leads to a series of Arab-Israeli Wars. Each are covered, including Egypt's prominent role behind Nasser and Sadat, along with the creation of the PLO, eventually being led by Yasser Arafat, and later the rise of Hamas and Hezbollah. We also check out how the Assad regime came to power in Syria, and Saddam Hussein in Iraq. Next, we travel to Iran, to witness the Iranian Revolution, the long Iran-Iraq War, and finally back to Iraq for the Gulf War in the early 1990s. From there, we turn to our last stop in Afghanistan, where the Mujahideen have expelled the Soviets, but Civil War ensues bringing to prominence the Taliban. As always, it's jam packed with information 0:00 African Fight for Independence 10:15 Africa Post-Independence 37:50 Arab-Israeli Wars (Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon) 1:04:04 Iran and Iraq 1:15:46 Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan The Contemporary History Series: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLaWQkkziGGfcpkY715pWfFsQGgZGNvtSv Welcome to the Contemporary History series of the World History Summarized project!
