Visualizing the Pyramids: Old Digs, New Technologies

Peter Der Manuelian, Harvard University's Giza Project The Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures welcomes back alumni Peter Der Manuelian, Barbara Bell Professor of Egyptology; Director of the Harvard Museum of the Ancient Near East, and Harvard University’s Giza Project Director. Manuelian will present an illustrated lecture summarizing some of the great discoveries, archaeological significance, and fascinating personalities behind the expeditions to the tombs and temples surrounding the famous Giza Pyramids. This includes George Reisner, the only rival to James Breasted for the title of greatest American Egyptologist of the time. He will present new technologies for bringing old digs back to life for international collaborative research and teaching.
